What makes Dunton River Camp different from Dunton Hot Springs?
Dunton River Camp offers a more tranquil, nature-immersed experience. With only 8 luxury tents (maximum 16 guests), it’s designed for serenity and solitude, compared to the more social atmosphere of Dunton Hot Springs with 14 cabins and up to 52 guests. River Camp is ideal for outdoorsy couples, solo travelers, and small groups looking to disconnect and embrace the wild beauty of Colorado.

Who is Dunton River Camp best suited for?
Most of our guests are adventurous couples aged 30–50, but we also welcome father-son pairs and friends—especially in our four “twin-bedded” tents. During designated family periods, we offer a 50% discount on a second tent, allowing families to stay comfortably while enjoying time together and apart. Family period dates are listed on our Special Offers page.

Is there access to the hot springs?
While River Camp doesn’t have its own hot springs, it features a riverside sauna and cold plunge for a refreshing, spa-like experience. Guests are also invited to soak at Dunton Hot Springs from 2–4 PM daily, provided there is no private buyout.

What’s unique about the fly fishing at River Camp?
We are proudly Orvis-Endorsed, and the private stretch of the West Fork of the Dolores River at River Camp offers some of the finest fly fishing in the region. Whether you’re an experienced angler or a beginner, we can tailor the experience to your level.

Can River Camp guests dine at Dunton Hot Springs?
Yes, lunch at Dunton Hot Springs is available unless there’s a private event. If not, our team can prepare a gourmet picnic lunch for you to enjoy riverside, on a hike, or on your tent deck.

What are dinners like at River Camp?
Dinners are an experience in themselves—outdoor cooking-focused, with an open-air kitchen and meals crafted from the finest seasonal ingredients. The atmosphere is casual, communal, and deeply connected to the landscape.

Are the tents comfortable in all seasons?
Absolutely. Each tent features a gas stove for warmth, plush bedding, and an en suite bathroom with high-end amenities, including a towel warmer, double vanity, and a six-foot deep soaking tub. Two tents also offer private outdoor copper bathtubs, perfect for soaking under the open sky.

Can I book the entire camp for a private event or celebration?
Yes, Dunton River Camp is a stunning option for full property buy-outs, whether for an intimate wedding, small retreat, or group getaway. With just 8 tents and a maximum of 16 guests, it offers the perfect balance of comfort, exclusivity, and immersion in nature.

Is there Wi-Fi or phone service?
Wi-Fi is available in the Farm House and tents. There is no cell service, encouraging guests to disconnect. A landline is available for emergencies.

Are there fitness or wellness amenities?
Yes, in addition to the sauna and cold plunge, River Camp features an outdoor exercise area with fitness stations designed to complement the natural surroundings.

What activities are available at River Camp?
Guests enjoy fly fishing, hiking, mountain biking, yoga, wildlife spotting, and stargazing. Our team can also coordinate custom excursions or wellness experiences.

When is the camp open?
Dunton River Camp is open seasonally, from June through mid-October, weather permitting.

Can I combine a stay at River Camp with Dunton Hot Springs—or your Telluride properties?
Yes, and we encourage it. Guests who book at least two nights at Dunton River Camp and two nights at Dunton Hot Springs, or one of our Telluride properties (Dunton Town House or Lumière) receive a 20% discount on both stays. It’s a perfect way to experience the diversity of Dunton Destinations—from riverside wilderness to restorative hot springs to vibrant mountain town life.
